I have been in the fitness and health industry for 15 years firstly as the owner of a successful karate school (yes, I have a black belt!) and then working in a chiropractic clinic and a women's weight loss centre. I then pursued a career as a personal trainer, going back to study and qualifying in 2012. I have worked as a personal trainer in gym's as both a contractor and supervisor, and now have my own private studio and work online where I pursue my passion to help women achieve their health and fitness goals.
I am in my mid 50's and love staying active and keeping healthy and fit, it feels so good to move! I am a keen runner and have completed 2 marathons, my first when I was 48, and many shorter races, both on and off road. I also believe in balance and enjoy working out with weights, playing in the park, a little cycling and flexibility work. It is important to stay active with a variety of exercise to have a great quality of life.
I wasn't always like this, I have been overweight and inactive in the past. As women, we tend to put everyone first before ourselves, and I have definitely "been there, done that". Looking after a family, moving countries, raising two young children on my own after their Dad passed away while running a business at the same time, getting remarried after a few years, blended family, building a new house and life - these were some of my challenges. (I talk about all of this in a recent podcast episode). And then I started to get older! Something had to change if I was going to enjoy my life into my 80's and beyond! In 2009 I lost 16 kgs and I haven't looked back since!
I would love to help you achieve your goals.
