I believe the two worst words you can say when you want to lose weight are “If” and “When”.
How often have you started a sentence like this… “If I was healthier…” “If I had more money…” “If I had more time…” ”When I have lost the weight…” So why are these two words the ones that stop you achieving your goals? Here’s the answer… Using “If” and “When” are keeping you from experiencing what you really want. You are giving yourself permission to stay exactly as you are right now. Have you ever wondered to yourself why you have the life, health, job, car, house, etc that you do right now? It’s because you have manifested these things into your life. Everything you have, everything you are today is because you made it so. This may sound a bit woowoo to you, but if you’ve read any mindset books, or ever done any mindset work yourself, you know this to be true. What you focus on, you create. So, you yourself are responsible for the outcome you are now experiencing. Wouldn’t you agree then that it stands to reason if you want something different, you alone can make this happen? The trick is to act “As If”. As if you were healthy, as if you were at your goal weight, as if you were running in that race, as if you were travelling around Europe, as if you were energetic and strong. You can only get to the goal you have by being that person now, by doing the behaviours of that person now, by thinking like that person now. Acting “as if” means doing the actions of the person you want to become. For example, if you want to lose weight, does that slimmer you eat take out 3 times a week? Or if you want to be fit, does the fit you sit on the couch all day. No! The leaner you prepares healthy meals at home, and the fitter you exercises daily. This is why mindset is so important when it comes to weight loss because you always get what you focus on – positive or negative. If you focus on your lack of time, or money, or health, or fitness, or dwell on your fatness – more of this will be given to you. You need to reverse your thinking. The easiest way to change this is to ask yourself the question – “What would the healthy me do?” It’s a technique that really works and will help you to become the person you want to be. So act “as if” now and watch how your goals and dreams start to happen. What small thing will you choose to act “As if” on today? Let me know in the comments.
